"A strong Province of Ontario makes a stronger Dominion of Canada !"

Saturday, April 21, 2007

Dear Friends, Electors and Constituents,

We have in recent years, months and days witnessed many major moves on the Senate Reform front on the positive side here in Canada, we have had two Conservative Prime Ministers get active and a couple Liberal Prime Ministers speak on this issue since the late 19th century yet not much progress. Three years ago, the Province of Alberta held its third Senatorial Election (2004 with other held in 1998 and 1989) which has just appointed its second Senator Bert Brown from it (Stan Waters was the other one in 1990) as well given its political vehicle and Senate Reform advocate Alberta Alliance the chance at a future electoral breakthrough in Wild Rose Country. The Province of Québec now has its own Senate Reform advocate as its Opposition in the Assemblée Nationale in the form of the Action Démocratique du Québec political vehicle (with its Opposition Leader Mario DuMont calling for positive constitutional reform as well on the national unity file) who may also call for an elected senator through its provincial elections in Fleur de Lys Country, and all of this this bring us yet another big step towards a Triple E Senate that is Equal, Elected and Effective for the people of this great country.

I believe it is now time for us here in the Province of Ontario to support the issue of a Triple E Senate and create a brand new alternative political vehicle here in Trillium Country to help further the cause nationally, as I have personally endorsed and advocated for the Canadian Committee for a Triple E Senate since its innocent inception and our province was a leader on this issue back in 1885 when Liberal Reform Senator William McMaster pushed for an Elected Senate at their convention in Toronto. Our own Ontario has led this nation in many areas, so it is only natural for us to take our lead politically here on this issues especially, and bring this country yet another step towards democracy for its people with another step also far way from the dictatorial democratic deficit which has been built up on the Hill over in Ottawa. This is why, unofficially since 1999 (when I ran to replace Chrétien Liberal 1996 Senatorial Appointee Eugene Whelan's vacant seat on Sunday, July 11, 1999 that year) and officially as of Tuesday, June 19, 2007 this year, I will be running for one of the two vacant seats for the Province of Ontario in the Canadian Senate as its Senator and will be looking for your support as electors and constituents to a) create that brand new alternative political vehicle that will make this a real life issue polticially, b) make this election for the office of Senator here in Ontario an official one that is constitutionally binding autonomically, and c) win that official election for the office of Senator here in Ontario, go to Ottawa, and represent the people of the Province of Ontario.

Therefore, let it be resolved now, I promise to give the voters, electors and constituents of this Province of Ontario better representation, check and balance than those truly partisan rubber stamps presently posing politically as our Senators for our own Ontario. You can be assured that I will continue to fight for the principles, values and ideals we cherish here in our great province, making sure the rich and distinct tradition, heritage and culture that is Ontarian can once more be captured by those in Parliament and fully understood as to its real meaning as misunderstood by most Canadians outside our own province. We must start refoming our political system from theory by introducing working methods of honesty, accountability and transparency in government, restoring reasonable respect for the democratic process and renewing the idea of real responsible representation to practice right now for the sake of the citizen. You can take my promise to your bank that we shall fight for free, fair and equal policies on economic, social, environmental, judicial and cultural issues of the day, being opeminded while listening to all constituents on the matters at hand, and coming up with a conclusion that will lead us how to vote with our mind, body and soul set squarely on seeking, finding and bringing us back genuine legislative justice. We thank you for your faithful trust, trust which must never be abused, misused or unappreciated ever again, and I look forward to building upon the good work our brand new alternative political vehicle has already started with this grassroots campaign for democracy in politics today out towards an even greater work on a future system of grassroots democratic politics tomorrow.

  Yours Very Truly,

  Joshua E. Eriksen
